Our Story Begins…
ABTECH Electrical Services was started by Kent Abell in 1989. After 35 years of business, the company is still guided by one principle: never give up! Kent started as an electrician in Jeffersonville, Indiana when he was 16 years old. He worked for local contractors and Louisville Gas & Electric as a lineman building electrical distribution substations. Upon moving to Ohio in the 1970s, Kent was a leader for Way International in managing electrical construction and maintenance services for multiple facilities. In 1981, he became a partner at an electrical company during one of the worst economic times. But after 6 years in business, the company grew to be the premier electrical company in the Kentuckiana area. In 1989, Kent decided to take a leap and begin ABTECH Electrical Services. His dedication to excellence, his customer relationships, and his experience in various industries has positioned ABTECH as a leader in the electrical industry in Louisville and Southern Indiana.

Meet The Team
GJ Abell
Managing Partner
G. J. started his career at age 16, working in his father’s electrical business. He grew up with both his father and stepfather owning electrical contracting businesses. This encouraged him to learn more about the electrical industry and specifically the newest technology associated with it. G. J. He worked in the electrical trade from age 16 to 23 before moving to a different endeavor with facility software. He spent the last 9 years working for a facility management software company before returning to the ABTECH Electrical Family business in 2015. Since then ABTECH has changed drastically from being just an electrical contractor to the premier Electrical Service Company in Kentuckiana. ABTECH is a Service First Electrical Contractor, ranked highest in the AREA on Google and the Generac Dealer Site. G.J. has helped build ABTECH into the Largenst Generac Dealer in Southern Indiana as well as the #1 Service Company in Kentuckiana. G. J. is married with 4 children and his passion is spending time with his Wife and kids creating lasting memories… and maybe a little golf here and there.

William Cyrus, PE
Managing Partner
William graduated from the University of Louisville Speed School with his Bachelor and Master degrees in Electrical Engineering. Prior to graduation he worked for a startup software company where he learned about creating electrical systems and the importance of facility management and maintenance. Upon graduating he proceeded to work for multiple engineering consulting firms where he honed his craft on the design side of things, from $150MM hospital design down to the smallest retail design-build project. William has 18 years of experience Facility Management, Electrical Design, Electrical Controls, and Construction. In Facilty In 2014 he started Cyrus Engineering, which later became Louisville Engineering Company once he partnered with G.J. Abell. William lives in Louisville with his wife and two children.
